Cassetti Celebrates 100 Years of History
A century of Florentine craftsmanship, creativity, and prestigious international collaborations
There are places that preserve a city’s history. The Cassetti boutique on the Ponte Vecchio is one of them: for a hundred years, its display windows have showcased the excellence of Florentine goldsmithing, featuring jewelry, silverware, and unique creations born of the passion of three generations of the Cassetti family.
It was April 1926 when Renzo Cassetti founded the first workshop, embarking on a journey that would transform an ancient artisan tradition into an international symbol of “Made in Italy.” Today, Cassetti has ten boutiques in Tuscany, including locations in Florence, Prato, and Forte dei Marmi, and celebrated this important anniversary with a special evening on July 8 at the Teatro del Maggio Fiorentino, attended by over 700 guests, including employees, customers, partners, and representatives of various institutions.

The history of Cassetti begins with silver, a precious and malleable material that still lies at the heart of the house today. From the workshop on Costa dei Magnoli have emerged creations capable of standing the test of time, such as the monumental silver frame created for Pope Pius XII.
Over the years, the company has successfully combined tradition and innovation. In 1985, the Museo silverware collection, designed by Andrea Cassetti, was selected for inclusion in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in Munich—an international recognition of the brand’s stylistic innovation and the quality of its craftsmanship.
The Resilience of a Florentine Family
Cassetti’s century-long history is also a story of courage and the ability to rise again. During World War II, Renzo Cassetti hid the precious silver ingots to protect the future of the workshop and ensure that work could resume after the war.
The family has thus weathered difficult times—such as the war, the 1966 Florence flood, economic crises, and the pandemic—while always keeping people at the center. “Our family is our team,” said Filippo Cassetti, the founder’s grandson and a representative of the third generation, recalling the deep bond between the company and its employees.

Throughout the 20th century, Cassetti won over international clients and created custom pieces for prominent figures. In the 1950s, Maria Grazia Cassetti brought a new vision to the world of silverware, introducing innovative combinations of silver, crystal, and porcelain and dedicating herself to sourcing precious stones for jewelry intended for princesses and collectors. The brand’s creativity also extended into the worlds of pop culture and sports: in the 1970s, a collaboration with Mattel led to the creation of an iconic silver ring inspired by Barbie, while in 2000, Cassetti produced the official silver replica of the Louis Vuitton Cup won by the Luna Rossa team.
Cassetti and the Ponte Vecchio: A Century-Long Bond
Being on the Ponte Vecchio means witnessing a story of encounters and emotions every day. Among the Cassetti family’s most evocative memories is that of an evening when the famous bridge was illuminated only by artistic lighting and the voice of Andrea Bocelli. A foreign customer, looking out from the boutique onto the Arno, was so struck by the beauty of Florence that he called his wife and was moved to tears by the sight. This is precisely the philosophy that has guided Cassetti for a hundred years: to create objects capable not only of telling the story of an era, but of enduring through it.
To celebrate this milestone, Andrea Cassetti has chronicled the family’s history in the book The History of the Cassetti Family: A Hundred Years of History Amid Art, War, and Family; From Artisan Workshop to Symbol of the Ponte Vecchio, a narrative dedicated to the people and values that have made this journey possible.

From 1926 to 2026, the guiding principle has remained the same: humility, sacrifice, and passion. These values, passed down by Renzo Cassetti to subsequent generations, have become the secret behind an artisanal enterprise capable of conquering the world.
“When you create an object, you have to put your soul into it: only then can it stand the test of time and acquire a value that transcends the material itself,” recalls Filippo Cassetti.
After a century of history, Cassetti Firenze continues to look ahead, staying true to its roots and ready to write the next chapter in a long history of Italian beauty.
