The Teatro del Sale Reopens Its Doors: A Beloved Venue Returns to Florence
Starting September 17, Circo-lo Teatro del Sale reopens its doors with concerts, performances, and cuisine by Cibrèo
There are places that, over time, become part of a city’s collective memory. In Florence, one of these is undoubtedly the Teatro del Sale, which reopens its doors on September 17 to kick off a new season.
For 23 years, the Teatro del Sale has been much more than just a venue for performances: it is a gathering place, a table around which people can come together, a stage for Italian and international artists, and an institution deeply rooted in the neighborhood and the city.
Its uniqueness lies precisely in this formula, which is difficult to replicate: theater, music, food, and community coexist under one roof. Over the years, the Teatro del Sale has hosted performances, concerts, comedy shows, and gatherings, providing a platform for artists and projects while also helping to promote local cuisine and productions.
Teatro del SaleA journey built together with its audience. Circo-lo, registered as a Third Sector organization, fosters a participatory approach in which those who frequent and support the theater become an integral part of the project. It is also thanks to this community that, after 23 years, the theater can continue to be a vibrant place beloved by the people of Florence. And now we’re starting anew.
The new season returns with some of the great classics that have shaped the theater’s history—music, theater, comedy, and Italian and international artists—as well as some new additions, including the new format Sotto il Segno di SALE! – Events and gatherings to experience the neighborhood.
The first week immediately sets the tone for the season: on September 17, the opening will feature the old-school rock ’n’ roll of the Last Minute Dirty Band; on September 18, Virgigno brings his comedy with the “gn”; on September 21, the first event of Sotto il Segno di SALE! takes place; and on the 23rd, the Murder Mystery Dinners return. Next up, on September 24, the music of Beat Revolution, and on September 25, the Latin Groove of Selva Urbana.

Because the Teatro del Sale isn’t just a place to go see a show. It’s a piece of Florence, made up of people, encounters, flavors, music, and stories. And starting September 17, it finally comes back to life.
