490 shots Archive Photo Locchi in memory of the 1966 flood
A 'wide section of the site dedicated to that tragic November 4 in Florence

From the first moments of the flood, the streets of the devastated center of the water and then the days of reconstruction: the Angels of the Mud, a visit from Ted Kennedy and Pope Paul VI.

Quattrocentonovanta shots of that tragic Friday, November 4, 1966, selected from thousands of images stored: so the town Stock Photo Locchi celebrates the 49th anniversary of the flood in Florence.
Unique images, which document one of the most frightening and terrible floods in the city, now visible on the online portal www.fotolocchi.it.

An iconographic, in continuous implementation, to relive the tragedy that befell Florence. From the pictures taken by the brave reporter, who lingered near the parapets of the Arno to grasp the explosive fury at the very moment of its first flood, the squares and streets of the city's most famous and known throughout the world, now reduced to streams in full including the Piazzale degli Uffizi, the Basilica di Santa Croce, Piazza del Duomo.

The photographs of the following days, are unique shots that show us a city destroyed and unrecognizable, but where is palpable but the sincere and selfless passion that pushed thousands of young people around the world, "The Mud Angels", to run to the rescue of population and countless works of art that would otherwise be lost forever.
