Waiting the new Opera del Duomo Museum in Florence

Two months from the opening of one of the most important museums of the city

Work is ongoing to build a new Museum of the Opera del Duomo in Florence in view of the public scheduled for 29 October 2015. A spectacular exhibition will present the works of the most important collection in the world of sculpture sacred medieval and Renaissance Florentine masterpieces Donatello, Michelangelo, Lorenzo Ghiberti, Luca della Robbia, Arnolfo di Cambio, Andrea Pisano, Antonio Pollaiuolo, Andrea del Verrocchio and many more.

These days have been released from protective packaging and placed in their final position sixteen monumental statues that decorated Giotto's bell tower, commissioned by the Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore between 1330 and 1430, and the two Evangelists of Donatello and Nanni Banco carved for the facade of the Duomo of Florence between 1408 and 1415.

Among the sculptures for Giotto's bell tower stand out overtime prophets of Donatello, including Habakkuk - represented wrapped in a long tunic that falls from the left shoulder, with deep creases as the torment that burns the soul - and Jeremiah where the artist She gives the character's face a disconcerting realism.
