Christmas lights up in Via de' Tornabuoni
New lights light up the glamorous shopping street again this year
Florence is preparing to welcome Christmas with a truly unique spectacle: the holiday lights on via de’ Tornabuoni will transform the famous luxury shopping street into an unprecedented luminous pathway. This year’s novelty involves the entire high-fashion district – via de’ Tornabuoni, via Strozzi, piazza Strozzi, and via dei Pescioni – brought together in a unified lighting project designed and created specifically for the city.
Christmas in Via de' Tornabuoni The installation involves all 120 luxury boutiques in the area and is supported by Banco Desio and Banca Passadore. The entirely bespoke setup features twelve kilometers of cables and 120,000 energy-efficient LED lights, arranged in large luminous arches five meters high, creating an elegant and striking scenography that highlights one of the world’s most iconic shopping districts.
Among the highlights are three 3D illuminated selfie points, destined to become the city’s new digital postcards. The first is located in Piazza Santa Trinita, where a seven-meter-high luminous shopping bag, with 12,000 LED lights and the inscription “Via de’ Tornabuoni Firenze,” will attract tourists from around the world. The other two, in Piazza Antinori and Piazza Strozzi, feature illuminated gift boxes, some of which can be used as seating.
Christmas in Via de' Tornabuoni The lights will remain on until the closing of Pitti Uomo on January 16, 2026, illuminating the heart of Florence throughout the holiday season and offering residents and visitors a unique experience of luxury, creativity, and Christmas magic.
In addition to Via de' Tornabuoni and the surrounding area, the air of Christmas also touches Piazza Santa Croce, where we find one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Tuscany, the Weihnachtsmarkt, until December 22, and many other initiatives that light up the city.
