Mamma MiANT: at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the charity musical based on the songs of Abba

On February 12, the famous musical Mamma Mia! returns to support the pediatric oncology care provided by the ANT Foundation.

On February 12, the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino will host a special evening of music, entertainment, and solidarity. Mamma MiANT, a refined adaptation of the famous musical Mamma Mia!, inspired by the iconic songs of ABBA, will be staged in support of the Bimbi in ANT project, which provides free pediatric cancer care at home.

The event, already sold out, will be held on Thursday, February 12, at 8:30 p.m. in the prestigious theater hall in Piazza Vittorio Gui, one of the symbolic places of Italian musical culture.

The Main Hall of the Maggio Musicale Opera House

Written by British playwright Catherine Johnson and first staged in London in 1999, Mamma Mia! is one of the most successful musicals in recent history. With Mamma MiANT, the show is reinterpreted in an original and charitable way, keeping intact the charm of ABBA's 70s and 80s melodies, enriched by new choreography and an elegant and engaging staging.

The project stems from an idea by Cristina Casamassimi, Head of Major Events at the ANT Delegation in Florence, who was able to involve entrepreneurs and prominent figures from the Florentine scene in the creation of an evening where art meets social commitment.

The evening is directed by Riccardo Giannini, assisted by assistant director Melania Crescioli, with vocal coaching by Barbara Vignali and choreography by Donatella Cantagallo, founder and artistic director of the Dance Performance School – Accademia Teatro Manzoni. On stage are the students of the Academic Dance Course directed by Cantagallo herself. The costumes are designed by Maria Soderstrom, for a show that focuses on artistic quality and strong visual impact.

All proceeds from the evening will be donated to the Bimbi in ANT project, dedicated to providing free pediatric oncology care at home, one of the most sensitive and important programs carried out by the ANT Foundation. The event is sponsored and supported by the City of Florence and made possible thanks to the contribution of Fondazione CR Firenze (main donor), Alberto Baldazzi Tessuti, and Aston Martin Bologna.

Great satisfaction was expressed by the President of the ANT Foundation, Raffaella Pannuti, who said: "It is exciting for me to bring the cause of ANT and all those it assists to such a prestigious venue as the Teatro del Maggio Musicale, especially given the deep bond that has existed for almost thirty years between ANT and the many sick people it cares for every day, thanks to the generosity of the Florentine people. I am delighted that, in order to strengthen this bond, a performance as well-known as it is light-hearted has been chosen this time. Because I am sure that smiling together to the music of ABBA will be a perfect vehicle for solidarity."

The Florentine delegate of ANT, Simone Martini, also expressed his pride in the event: "Being present on a grand stage such as the one dedicated to Zubin Mehta with a major project involving many prominent figures from the Florentine business community is a source of great pride for me and for the ANT delegation in Florence. I would like to thank all those, actors and coaches, who volunteered their free time for rehearsals, singing, dance, and acting lessons to make this dream come true, and I would like to thank the Florentine institutions and private supporters who, as always, support us in these initiatives to raise important funds for the BIMBI IN ANT pediatric project."
