Terreno, the contemporary face of Chianti Classico
A winery to discover among good organic wine, authentic cuisine, tastings and great attention to sustainability
In the beating heart of Chianti Classico, just minutes from the picturesque village of Greve in Chianti, lies Terreno, a farm that combines Tuscan winemaking tradition with a modern, deeply sustainable vision. Here, the wine becomes a tale of the land, the cuisine an extension of the land, and the hospitality an invitation to an authentic, immersive and unforgettable experience.
Since 1988, Terreno has been owned by the Swedish Ruhne family, which has transformed this estate into a virtuous example of organic farming and sustainable innovation. For the past ten years, it has been Sofia Ruhne, the youngest of the daughters, who has been guiding and driving the project forward with passion and foresight, together with trusted professionals.

With a total area of 150 hectares, 20 of which are dedicated to vineyards and 10 to olive groves, Terreno is a perfect balance between cultivation and wilderness. In fact, the rest of the property is made up of unspoiled forests, reflecting a respectful and harmonious approach to the environment. The farm is completely self-sufficient in energy and water, thanks to integrated self-production.
Terreno's productive heart is wine, with a special focus on Sangiovese, the main grape variety of Chianti Classico. The vineyards, distributed between the UGAs of Greve and Montefioralle, offer a variety of microclimates and soils that allow us to explore the myriad nuances of this grape variety. Winemaking is entirely artisanal: from the manual harvesting of the grapes to the careful selection of the bunches, every stage is taken care of down to the smallest detail to maximize the identity of the terroir and the vintage.
Leading this process today is Giacomo Fioravanti, a Tuscan winemaker with more than ten years of experience at the Isole e Olena winery, one of the most renowned in Chianti Classico. His deep knowledge of the Chianti Classico terroir and his sensitive and rigorous approach to winemaking represent an added value for Terreno. Terreno wines tell stories of passion, terroir and craftsmanship, and are recognized for elegance, complexity and authenticity.

Since 2019, Terreno's offerings have been enriched with the Vineyards Restaurant, a farm-to-table restaurant that opens its doors from April to October. Nestled among the vineyards, the restaurant offers authentic cuisine inspired by Tuscan tradition, made with organic produce from the farm garden and ingredients selected from local producers at km 0. Each dish is a journey through the flavors of the earth, designed to enhance the estate's wines in harmonious and surprising pairings. The menu changes daily following the rhythm of the seasons and nature, thus guaranteeing freshness and quality.

Terreno is not just about wine and cuisine; it is also a place to live. The estate welcomes visitors from all over the world with guided tours of the vineyards and winery, wine and organic extra virgin olive oil tastings, and full food and wine experiences, which also include lunches and dinners in the Vineyards Restaurant. The tastings allow visitors to discover the different expressions of Sangiovese, the winery's production philosophy and the deep connection between the wine and its territory. You can choose from different proposals, from the more technical ones for enthusiasts and experts, to the more relaxed ones for those who simply want to enjoy a special moment between nature and taste. We invite you to discover the various experiences here.

Terreno today represents a model of a contemporary farm, where love for the land translates into concrete gestures: organic farming, energy self-sufficiency, enhancement of the land and quality hospitality. Whether it is a tasting, lunch on the restaurant's panoramic terrace or a simple walk among the vines or in the vegetable garden, every moment experienced at Terreno is an invitation to slow down and reconnect with the most genuine essence of Chianti Classico.
