The best Tuscan wineries where to eat

Hunting for taste experiences among unique vineyards and wineries with restaurant

Within an hour of Florence, perhaps trespassing into the provinces of Siena and Arezzo, great wineries offer guided tours, tastings and even the exclusive touch of fine dining based on local products accompanied by their own fine wines. An unforgettable taste experience. Let's take a look together at the ones not to be missed.

Ristorante Rinuccio 1180

ph. +39 055 2359700

A historic wine family linked to the Chianti Classico tradition and from which two iconic wines Tignanello and Solaia were born. In Bargino, in the municipality of San Casciano Val di Pesa, it boasts an innovative winery opened in 2012 that is internationally recognized and admired. Rinuccio 1180 is the restaurant integrated into the futuristic forms of the winery, whose breathtaking design overlooks the vineyards. Chef Andrea Pelacchi's cuisine combines traditional Tuscan flavors revisited in a contemporary key, using only the highest quality raw materials. Among the must-tries: the Baccalà, fried and mantecato, with chickpeas and the Costolette di agnello, piselli alla Fiorentina and scalogno.

Il Quartino
Castello Nipozzano Frescobaldi
Località Nipozzano, Pelago (FI)
ph. +39 055 8311426

A historic wine emblem to which seven estates belonging to the noble terroirs of Tuscany's most wine-producing areas Perano, Nipozzano, Pomino, Castiglioni, CastelGiocondo, Ammiraglia and Remole, as well as wine produced on the island of Gorgona, belong. On the Castello Nipozzano estate in Pelago, near Chianti Rufina, the bistro Il Quartino boasts an expansive view of vineyards and a terrace where it would be worth eating even in winter for the views. Here, fast becomes slow, and the burger is not just a burger, but a gourmet, Km0 experience made from Chianina IGP and Black Angus meat raised in the wild on the estate, accompanied by homemade sauces and fries. Another specialty is the knife-beaten tartare, confit tomatoes, sprouts and puffed amaranth.

Osteria di Fonterutoli
Castello di Fonterutoli

In the historic heart of Chianti Classico, Castello di Fonterutoli is still owned by the Mazzei family, which settled there in 1435 and planted wine production, now the pride of the area. Its appearance has not changed much over the centuries, preserving some original buildings. Its dining spot is the Osteria di Fonterutoli with a beautiful location where, weather permitting, you can eat in the garden among the trees, surrounded by vineyards. Our recommendation: salad of pheasant, mushrooms and basil mayonnaise, Egg poché, cream of buffalo and green beans alla scapece, Tuna del Chianti (rabbit macerated in extra virgin olive oil, cream of peppers and ricotta cheese.
