Time for Women!, an exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi celebrates 20 years of contemporary female art
From April 17 to August 31, the spaces of the Strozzina will host the works of the nine winners of the Max Mara Art Prize for Women
From April 17 to August 31, the spaces of the Strozzina at Palazzo Strozzi are hosting Time for Women! Empowering Visions in 20 Years of the Max Mara Art Prize for Women, an exhibition celebrating two decades of creativity and innovation signed by women artists. While at Palazzo Strozzi until July 20, the exhibition project tracing the most important stages in the career of British artist Tracey Emin.

The exhibition, curated by Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi and Collezione Maramotti, brings together for the first time the works of the nine winners of the Max Mara Art Prize for Women, from 2005 to the present. It is a unique opportunity to explore how, in twenty years, the prize has chronicled and supported female talent in the visual arts, through creative residencies in Italy and original projects that have made their mark on the international art scene.
Among videos, installations, sculptures and wall works, the exhibition offers a cross-section of contemporary artistic production, with a focus on the female universe and its multiple narratives. Margaret Salmon, Hannah Rickards, Andrea Büttner, Laure Prouvost, Corin Sworn, Emma Hart, Helen Cammock, Emma Talbot and Dominique White are the protagonists of this artistic reconnaissance, each with a unique language and vision deeply rooted in personal experiences and socio-cultural reflections.

The exhibition unfolds as a journey through the research carried out during the Italian residencies provided by the prize: six months in which the artists were able to immerse themselves in the culture of our country and draw inspiration from themes such as identity, the body, memory, politics and society. The result was works ranging from commedia dell'arte to mythology, from Italian artisan excellence to monastic communities, not to mention reflections on motherhood, grand tours and natural landscapes.
Established in 2005 by Max Mara Fashion Group in collaboration with the Whitechapel Gallery in London, the Max Mara Art Prize for Women is the first biennial prize designed to support emerging female artists who identify as female and work in the United Kingdom. Since 2007 it has been joined by Collezione Maramotti, which has further enriched its value by curating residencies in Italy and welcoming the final works into its collections. The selection of the winners is entrusted to an all-female jury, composed of professionals from the British art world.

With Time for Women!, Palazzo Strozzi confirms itself as one of the nerve centers of contemporary art in Florence, capable of hosting exhibitions of international scope and telling stories that focus on the expressive power of women.
