BargaJazz Festival 18 July - 29 August 2021

All the dates and the protagonists of the famous jazz music festival in the hills of Lucca

The first concert of the BargaJazz Festival 2021 is Sunday, July 18 at 21.30 in Capannori in the open space set up to host the summer events of the municipality. Hermetico, a concert dedicated to the Brazilian composer Hermeto Pascoal, with Federica Gennai on vocals, Andrea Ruggeri on percussion and a sax quartet composed of Rossano Emili on baritone sax, Renzo Cristiano Telloli on alto sax, Moraldo Marcheschi on soprano sax and Alessandro Rizzardi on tenor sax.


Also in Capannori on 7 August is the Nico Gori Swing 10tet, a group inspired by the swing era and led by clarinet virtuoso Nico Gori and the voice of Stefania Scarinzi.


On 12 August the festival moves to Barga where the quartet of trumpeter Fabrizio Bosso with Julian Oliver Mazzariello on piano, Jacopo Ferrazza on double bass and Nicola Angelucci on drums will perform in the piazzale del Fosso.


On 18 August the Reunion Big Band will pay tribute to Marco Tamburini, in the evocative setting of the Villa Moorings Gardens in Barga.


On 19 August the Alessio Bianchi Quartet will open for the quartet of Seamus Blake and Alessandro Lanzoni, at the Giardini di Villa Moorings in Barga.


In the evening of 20 August the trio of Don Antonio introduces the concert of the trumpeter Alex Sipiagin, to the Gardens of Villa Moorings.


On 27 August Bruno Tommaso will present his latest work "Dagli Appennini alle Madonie", at the Gardens of Villa Moorings.


On Saturday 28 August there will be another double concert with Vittorio Alinari Special Trio and Manrico Seghi Hammond Trio feat. Guido di Leone, again at Villa Moorings Gardens.


Closes the Festival, the day of Barga IN Jazz on Sunday 29 August from the afternoon in the gardens of Villa Gherardi where will alternate the groups of young people from SienaJazz University. The day is inaugurated at 17.00 by the Street Band that guides the public through the streets and squares of the historic centre. At 6 p.m., as every year, there will also be a concert in the Duomo di S. Cristoforo in a suggestive and spiritual setting. The event ends in the evening with Enojazz Open Session, a great jam with all the participants in the event.
