Italy champion of Europe, the cup arrives at Coverciano

The triumph of the Azzurri brings home the prestigious trophy

"It's coming home, it's coming home". The English had been saying this for days, but last night, Roberto Mancini's Azzurri wrote history and at Wembley Stadium, in front of over 60 thousand fans, they climbed the highest step in Europe.
53 years after the last time, in a tournament tailor-made for the English that played at home, supported by the warmth of their public, Italy accomplished a historic feat. A final that started off on an uphill slope, with that initial advantage that seemed to have paved the way for the adversaries, and that instead, after the tie signed by Leonardo Bonucci in regulation time, saw the Azzurri triumph after penalty kicks.
A true Azzurri renaissance. The masterpiece is signed by Roberto Mancini who, three years after the historic exclusion from the World Cup in Russia 2018, brings back the beautiful Italian soccer.
A modern team, a fresh and proactive soccer. Mancini is undoubtedly the architect of this feat and so are his boys, who have restored the passion of the Azzurri after Ventura's disaster. Mancini enters the Olympus of winning coaches after Pozzo, Valcareggi, Bearzot and Lippi.
Now, after the long night of celebrations, the cup is expected at the Football Museum in Coverciano, in the temple that collects the history and the present of the National team, while the Azzurri are already looking towards the World Cup in Qatar 2022.
