Opera, ballet, classical music in Tuscany. Summer 2015

All the Festival and the unmissable events of classical show in Tuscany

Florence. Running from May through September, the Estate al Bargello festival will be held in the National Bargello Museum’s courtyard and features theatre, music and ballet performances. The events calendar includes: from July 1 to 3, Stefano Accorsi starring in Giocando con Orlando Assolo (a play based on Ludovico Ariosto’s Orlando furioso according to Marco Baliani). The Florence Dance Festival presents, on July 28, the New York Peridance Contemporary Dance Company, performing the national premiere of Thundering Silence, choreographed by Igal Perry. The Firenze Suona Contemporanea program includes, on September 14, Nordic Voices, a Norwegian vocal ensemble performing a classical-contemporary repertoire ranging from Carlo Gesualdo and Luis da Victoria to North-European up-and-coming composers. From July 8 to September 6, Opera di Firenze stages 12 performances of The Barber of Seville by Rossini directed by Damiano Michieletto with the Maggio Musicale Chorus and Orchestra.

Siena. Held in the beautiful setting of the San Galgano abbey, in Chiusdino, Siena, from July 3 to 26 is the San Galgano Festival. The two must-see shows are Rigoletto by Verdi on July 17 and the Gran Galà della Lirica on July 18.

Lucca. From July 10 to August 21, in Marina di Pietrasanta, the Versiliana Festival features a rich program of theatre, music and ballet performances including: on July 18, Serata Pètit by Eleonora Abbagnato, Étoile at the Paris Opera Ballet, and Evolution by the great Italian ballet dancer Alessandra Ferri, on August 1st. On August 8, the concert by jazz pianist Stefano Bollani and the Glenn Miller Orchestra performing The History of Big Bands on August 14From June 26 to July 19, returns the Barga Opera Festival 2015 with a series of events located between the provinces of Lucca and Massa. Unmissable event the preparation of Catone of Handel, with music by Vivaldi, Porpora, Leo Vinci and Hasse to work Auser Musici, at the Teatro dei Differenti on 3 and 5 July.

From July 24 to August 2, in the magnificent setting of the Cloister of Sant’Agostino and Piazza del Duomo in Pietrasanta, Pietrasanta in Concerto, the international festival of chamber music under the artistic direction of Michael Guttman. Ten great performances, including Dominique Corbiau with the Moscow Soloists conducted by Michael Guttman (July 29), the Labèque sisters (August 2) and Salvatore Accardo (August 1). Running from July 24 to August 30 is the Puccini Festival at the open-air Grand Theatre in Torre del Lago. The festival program includes: Tosca (July 24, 31 and August 15, 21, 30) Turandot (July 25 - August 7, 16, 23, 28) and Madama Butterfly (August 1, 8, 14, 22, 29

Pisa. From August 2 to 4, in the charming Teatro del Silenzio in Lajatico, the exclusive event created by Andrea Bocelli, Cuvage: the music of the famous tenor accompanied by pearls wine cellar of Acqui Terme (Metodo Classico Rosé Brut Classic Method Cuvage de Cuvage Pas dose, Classic Method Blanc de Blancs).
