Pasolini 100, the great festival in Florence
From March 5 to June 9, the most important retrospective dedicated to the great director on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth
From March 5, 2022, exactly 100 years after his birth, until June 9, Florence will host Pasolini 100, the largest Italian retrospective dedicated to the director, screenwriter, scholar, poet and painter Pier Paolo Pasolini.
To pay this important tribute through his greatest masterpieces, the Gabinetto Vieusseux, cinema Stensen, cinema La Compagnia, with the support of the Cineteca di Bologna and in collaboration with cinema Odeon.
He was born in Bologna, on March 5, 1922, a rebel genius, against the tide, a narrator of the urban peripheries, of street kids, of people on the margins, a polemic witness of his time, of the hypocrisy of the respectable bourgeoisie and of the prevailing capitalism, and a critic also of Sixty-Eight and of the left. A careful observer who laid bare the contradictions of society.
Pasolini 100 traces his directorial career with a billboard of 13 films, restored, made available by the Cineteca di Bologna in the program at Stensen (Viale Don Minzoni), La Compagnia (Via Cavour 50/r) and Odeon cinema (Piazza Strozzi); Accattone, from 1961, up to one of the films that most divided the critics, Salò o le 120 giornate di Sodoma, from 1975, including some of his most important films, such as Mamma Roma, Comizi d'amore, Edipo Re, La Ricotta, Decameron, Il Vangelo secondo Matteo, Porcile, Uccellacci uccellini, I racconti di Canterbury, Il fiore delle mille e una notte, Appunti per un'Orestiade africana.
