Eating outdoors in the centre of Florence

Where to eat in Florence among typical Florentine trattorias, innovative and cult places of taste

Florence is once again the capital of taste and good food. After a delicate spring, where lockdown was unfortunately the watchword for our entire nation, Italy and Florence are reborn.

With new bets, new visions and a new optimism that spreads even in the catering sector of Florence, ready to host its customers, with new rules of course, but with the same goal as always: to give unforgettable taste experiences.

Scopri con noi i migliori ristoranti e trattorie in città dove prenotare un pranzo o una cena in assoluta tranquillità:

Discover with us the best restaurants and trattorias in the city where you can book a lunch or dinner in absolute tranquillity:
We are at Harry's Bar Firenze. There is a long list of famous people who have sat in this bar, the only Harry's Bar in the world that is directly descended from the Cipriani family's Bar in Venice. Among them Richard Burton in the company of Liz Taylor, Greta Garbo and Margaux Hemingway, actress and granddaughter of the great Ernest, who wanted to make one of the bar stools her own, sticking it under the label of a champagne, still there, where she put it. A myth since 1953. Always alive among the Florentines. A menu of dishes and cocktails that in 65 years has remained stainless, along with new proposals that have never been affected by fashion. What has changed today? The quality remains intact, with the classics of the kitchen and some seasonal proposals, space to eat outdoors with 6 tables and then the delivery: from Wednesday to Saturday only for dinner, from 5 pm onwards, and Sunday only for lunch.

Here is a great classic: the Goldsmith's Hole. In the precious Via dei Girolami 28, a few steps from the Uffizi, you go down the steps, to enter a hole of pleasure known by Florentines and not. A great novelty for this new summer: tables also outdoors, 15 to be exact and 20 inside. And then a reduced menu, but an expression of the best of Florentine cuisine: from fried brains (for daring palates only) to kidneys, and then meatballs, rump, maltagliati with sauce and pecorino cheese, gnocchetti with white meat sauce, the inevitable asparagus pie and stuffed round zucchini. The takeaway service is still active.

Buca dell'Orafo

A new beginning also for the Santo Bevitore, in the Santo Spirito district, a restaurant that stands out for its creative cuisine, linked to the Tuscan tradition, well cared for but informal. For the first time the restaurant also extends outside, with 7 small tables overlooking a street Santo Spirito closed to traffic and beautifully separated with floral inserts, which will make your meal truly unforgettable. Reduce the tables inside, where intimate and trendy elegance is the main feature. Don't miss the terrine of chicken livers with Vin Santo ristretto and pan brioche, or the beef tartare with crispy vegetables. The great success of the delivery Santo Immito remains active.

Let's change culinary scenery with one of the best Japanese restaurants in Florence. In the heart of the Oltrarno the Momoyama. Ceilings at times, minimal interior, pastel colors and soft lights. Momoyama has also been reorganized in the interior spaces and, great news, also outside with a total of 8 tables outside and 10 inside. The splendid menu is now reduced, but it remains a triumph of cooked and raw jap cuisine: among the must are rolls and fried shrimps with spicy homemade mayonnaise. Theirs is an apetura in the sign of positivity and a warm invitation to hope to make the district of San Frediano a destination for renewed tourism.

Set in the charming Piazza della Passera, Osteria Tripperia Il Magazzino was one of the very first businesses to open to its customers. Read here the interview with Luca Cai, chef and owner.
Here at the Magazzino, a great return that we hadn't seen for a long time: resting on the counter at the entrance, the "sacred" symbol of Florentine taste: Monsieur Lampredotto. But it doesn't end there, in their "minimal" menu reworked daily there is no lack of the legendary: tripe, boiled lampredotto, lampredotto meatballs, lampredotto ravioli, vegetable carbonara, lampredotto ragout. Inside 15 tables and 6 outside, to let you enjoy in complete tranquility the truest soul of Florence. The takeaway service is still active.

Going up towards Sant'Ambrogio, in via del Verrocchio, at 8/r, there is the Cibreo: a refined melting pot of flavours and scents, with only one conductor, chef Fabio Picchi. In a place that is the history of Florence, the quality of service and "style-picchi" remains intact, the number of tables changes, 16 tables outside and 10 inside (instead of 24). The protagonist is the taste of a reduced menu that maintains the Florentine heart of a cuisine that is legend. Try the potato flan with meat sauce, the gnudo Tuscan ricotta cheese and butter, the mushroom past, roast pigeon, stuffed neck and scampi. The Patron leaves us with a strong and clear message: "we must enhance the territory is fundamental to be able to move forward. If you can consume Italian!".

A stone's throw from Santa Maria Novella we encounter one of the most historical and original names in Florence. We are talking about Trattoria Gargani. known for its artistic essence, but also for its cuisine, based on Tuscan dishes and dishes with a personal touch that know how to amaze, all prepared with seasonal ingredients and 0 km 0. A reference point for lovers of good food and artists in the Santa Maria Novella district, for many years now it has always kept its mark, such as the frescoes, paintings and sculptures by the Florentine artist Alfio Rapisardi. In this wonderful summer Gargani has a surprise, it is Gargani in Corte: the trattoria reopens in the splendid and prestigious palace of the Marquis of Camugliano, in Via del Moro. Every night from 19:30 to 22:30. We recommend booking

The Osteria Belguardo is located in Piazza degli Scarlatti, right where on the side of Lungarno Guicciardini, towards Ponte Santa Trinita. An evocative restaurant that reflects a taste for cuisine based on the pillars of Tuscan tradition supported by a passionate selection of raw materials. Free access to suggestive outdoor lunches and dinners, with an outdoor dehor - among the most suggestive in Florence - that can occupy about 30 people. Among the not-to-be-missed we suggest: tartare, veal cheek, fried squid and wild salmon.

Atelier de Nerli is a realm of taste, craftsmanship and aesthetics created by Daniele Cavalli, son of the famous designer. Its vintage atmosphere and the "aromatic" cuisine of the Piedmontese Gianluca Camilotto have already conquered the most chic of Florence. Among the protagonists a menu that changes season after season, book one of the 6 tables outside even if the atmosphere of the past with a view of San Frediano is really unique. To crown the evening you could also buy us a gift: all the furniture, produced by artisans in the neighborhood, is in fact available for purchase. The delivery service also continues.

It is called "Degustazione all'Italiana" and is the new formula of the tasting menu signed Ora d'Aria, a starred restaurant headed by Marco Stabile, a real institution of Tuscan and national haute cuisine. A menu for Italy and Italy, consisting of a reduced selection of culinary masterpieces: appetizer, first course, main course, cheese and dessert, presented with more "Italian" portions. Not to be missed are the Panzanella "Tuttifrutti" with apple vinegar, the Etruscan bitter risotto with raspberry powder, the 360° porcini mushrooms, the selection of cheeses, seasonal fruit, honey and walnut bread, grandmother's cake, heart of vinsanto and fiordilatte with sage. Dulcis in fundo a disposable printed menu to take away with you, with an unpublished design signed by Gianluca Biscalchin, with images that recall a new Renaissance. Waiting for confirmation to place the tables outside too, Marco Stabile leaves us with a message: "we all need pampering, what better way to go to the restaurant to enjoy as before and get back into a good habit? I think it is the ideal gift to overcome this period". In a few days don't miss the takeaway menu.
