The Calcio Storico Fiorentino opens the Pitti Immagine Uomo 88

Monday, June 15, in Piazza Santa Croce an event to remember

It will be an extraordinary representation of the Calcio Storico Fiorentino to welcome traders to Pitti Immagine Uomo 88, the evening of Monday, June 15 in the setting of Piazza Santa Croce, heart of Florence. An event sponsored by the Florence Centre for Italian Fashion and by Pitti Immagine realized with the contribution of the Ministry of Economic Development and ICE Agency.

The atmosphere, the elegance and charm of a tradition as the Calcio Storico Fiorentino, which has its roots in the Renaissance - and that is an important symbol of national identity - will be involved in a re-enactment unique: a tribute to the guests International that will be in Florence during Pitti Immagine Uomo (16-19 June 2015).

The exclusive evening will begin with a parade of the Historical Parade of the Florentine Republic. In scene 540 figures that will wear the clothes paraded in Renaissance Florence in 1530 to witness the independence and pride of the city besieged by French troops. After an unprecedented journey through the main streets of the historic center, they will make their grand entrance at 19.00 in Piazza Santa Croce.

The refinement, the glitz and the colors of the procession, of great symbolic value and representative for the city, will guide the audience and kicking in Piazza Santa Croce where the match will be played in the Calcio Storico. It will be a celebration match and evocative, which is outside the normal schedule of the tournament which takes place in Florence on the same days, a match that will be played by a selection of the best kicking of the past, those who have made the history of the event.

The evening will conclude with two exclusive dinners: the first set in the Cloister inside the Basilica of Santa Croce - in collaboration with the Opera di Santa Croce - reserved for a selection of international guests; the second, in the nearby Via Magliabechi, instead will see players - for the first time in history - all participants of the procession and kicking, for a charming evocation of a Renaissance banquet.
