Jazz & Wine a Montalcino
July 14, 2023

The Jazz & Wine Festival illuminates Montalcino

From 18 to 23 July, the city of Brunello hosts the biggest stars of international jazz

From 18 to 23 July Montalcino lights up with the 26th edition of the Jazz & Wine festival, born from the collaboration between the well-known Banfi winery, the Rubei family of the Alexanderplatz Jazz Club in Rome and the Municipality of Montalcino.

Frequented by the world's most important artists, Jazz & Wine in Montalcino combines great jazz music and quality wine and is a true model in terms of both organisation and artistic proposal. The festival offers itself as a showcase of what the international jazz universe has to offer, not disdaining a few forays into the world of pop: a mix of languages that wins and convinces, consecrating this programme as one of the best-loved ever.
The artistic direction is by Eugenio Rubei. All the shows of Jazz & Wine in Montalcino will begin at 21:45.

It starts on Tuesday 18 July with The Bossa Queen. In the wonderful atmosphere of Castello Banfi comes the class of Eliane Elias (piano and voice). With her on stage are three amazing musicians: Marc Johnson (double bass), Leandro Pellegrino (guitar) and Rafael Barata (drums).

On Wednesday 19 July, it is the Mike Stern Band that opens the concerts in Montalcino's medieval fortress. Brilliant and eclectic Stern takes the stage with a dream team of musicians consisting of Lemi Stern (electric guitar, ngoni, vocals), Bob Franceschini (sax), Jimmy Haslip (electric bass) and Dennis Chambers (drums).

Also on Thursday 20 July, the Montalcino Fortress welcomes Peter Erskine Quartet feat Alan Pasqua, Darek Oles, George Garzone. A world jazz icon, Peter Erskine (drums) performs - for the first time in Europe - with a formidable line-up featuring Alan Pasqua on piano, Darek Oles on double bass and George Garzone on sax.

A legendary band pays tribute to a career spanning more than 10 decades and studded with no less than 10 Grammy Awards: on Friday 21 July, The Manhattan Transfer arrive on the stage of the Montalcino Fortress with their 50th anniversary and final world tour.
Saturday 22 July sees the arrival of Tiromancino with Summer Tour 2023, a journey into the power of the songs that have made the band famous and revealed Federico Zampaglione's singer-songwriter sensitivity.

The festival closes on Sunday 23 July with an extraordinary concert featuring the timeless elegance of Noa. Singer-songwriter, poet, composer and percussionist, Noa brings to Montalcino her extraordinary ability to mix genres and languages, crossing the boundaries of every musical genre and involving the audience in a whirlwind of emotions.
