In 1979 Florentine shopkeepers held a competition to commemorate the famous Florentine architect Bernardo Buontalenti. The Badiani ice-cream parlour entered and won the prize with an ice-cream called "Buontalenti", made with cream, milk, sugar and eggs. Vivoli, one of Florence's historic ice cream parlours, in the heart of Santa Croce. A gem? His ice cream served in the wine cellar. Don't miss the cream that bears his name, Vivoli.
