Villa La Quiete, Electress Palatine's historic garden opened to the public for the first time
Until the end of October, you can visit this Florentine jewel with guided tours by reservation
After careful restoration, the historic garden of Villa La Quiete opens to the public for the first time. This is the last example of a garden created by the Medici family, a place of great historical and cultural value that is being returned to the community at the end of the University of Florence's Centennial celebrations.
Commissioned in the first half of the 18th century by Anna Maria Luisa de' Medici, the Electress Palatine, the garden of Villa La Quiete represents a rare example of a formal Medici garden. The complex was once reserved for the Signore Montalve, a lay congregation dedicated to the education of young Florentine noblewomen, active from the 17th century until the 20th century.

Thanks to a rehabilitation project sponsored by the University of Florence, with support from the Ministry of Culture and European funds PNRR - NextGenerationEU, today this jewel can be admired and experienced by all. The project included botanical and architectural restoration, as well as the securing of the visiting path.
The inauguration was accompanied by the screening of the documentary Villa La Quiete. The rediscovered garden by Edoardo Zucchetti and the Natura Sonora concert by the University of Florence Orchestra, with music by Beethoven, Händel, Strauss and other masters, curated by Teresa Megale.
From the end of May until October, Villa La Quiete and its Garden will be open to visitors every Saturday and Sunday via paid guided tours, by reservation (click here for more details).
