Domenico Tavanti, founder of the Tavanti Jewels brand
Jewellery with an unmistakable style designed for those who love to wear excellence typical of Made in Italy
Tavanti and Florence: will you tell us about this relationship?
A place of beauty and knowledge, the place where the goldsmith’s art has been developed since the Renaissance. I had just come out of art school when I discovered my passion for working with gold and was lucky enough to build a career cultivating this interest. That is why, when I had the opportunity, I founded the Tavanti brand, linking it to Florence, and chose to invest in the COI jewellery store, acquiring the showroom in Via Por Santa Maria 8 and the splendid boutique in Ponte Vecchio 18.
The logo: two joyful dolphins. Where does it come from?
The two dolphins logo is the product of an idea of my wife, who has always been at my side in sharing my passion. The two dolphins, whose meeting resembles the shape of a heart, are a symbol of harmony, which characterises both the Tavanti brand and the company I founded in 1978, Gold Art.
Tradition and innovation in your work..
At Gold Art, we have a team of specialised engineers who design machinery that enables us to produce exclusive items. Combined with the craftsmanship of goldsmiths, they have enabled us to distinguish ourselves on the market worldwide.
Can you also tell us something about COI?
The two COI Firenze boutiques are the flagship of my business. They are two multibrand jewellery stores where we offer our customers the most renowned brands of jewellery made in Italy. They are of course, Tavanti, and our other company brand, Falcinelli, with its jewellery characterised by large precious stones and diamonds. Next year we will celebrate 70 years of COI.
The Ponte Vecchio, site of one of your shops, what does it represent for you?
Ponte Vecchio has always been a universal symbol of beauty. For me, it is a boy’s dream that has become a solid reality.
