Ilio de Filippis’ workshop was set up at the beginning of the 1980s, when the young son of a marble craftsman decided to leave Venafro, a little village in the south of Italy, to move to Florence. Here he decided to learn and keep alive the Florentine tradition of hard and semiprecious stone mosaic. In the laboratory, which may be visited (booking required), artisans are still creating panels and inlaid artworks today, employing materials from all over the world.
