All the must-see festivals in August in Tuscany

Giorgia, Drusilla Foer, the Editors, Edoardo Bennato: find out all the names for a summer of music and entertainment in Tuscany

This summer in Florence and throughout Tuscany has been filled with bands, national singers and international stars. August also promises to be full of must-see shows and festivals, let's find out which ones and where together!

47 shows, 3 stages, 284 artists involved, more than 60 afternoon meetings at the Café with big names in literature, culture, art, politics and current affairs, and as many as 23 shows for children for the La Versiliana dei Piccoli festival.   • FESTIVAL MONT’ALFONSO SOTTO LE STELLE (GARFAGNANA)

Until Aug. 22 the fourth edition of Mont'Alfonso under the Stars, the festival that brings artists of international caliber between the Apuan Alps and the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, surrounded by ancient fortresses and beautiful natural scenery. Among the guests on the calendar: Paolo Hendel (July 25), Gianni Morandi (Aug. 2), Marco Travaglio (Aug. 4), 40 Fingers (Aug. 7), Jonathan Canini (Aug. 10), Pink Floyd Legend (Aug. 12), Simone Graziano (Aug. 15), Edoardo Bennato (Aug. 16), Max Angioni (Aug. 17), Alice (Aug. 22).

  • FOLLONICA SUMMER NIGHTS

It starts on Aug. 9 with Mister Rain, on Aug. 10 on the Geolier stage, on Aug. 12 Massimo Ranieri, on Aug. 13 Giorgio Panariello vs. Marco Masini, on Aug. 19 Madame, on Aug. 20 Follsonica by Night, a free admission concert event featuring the best up-and-coming artists, and then continues on Aug. 21 with Salmo and finally on Aug. 22 the final night with Filippo Caccamo.

  • CASTIGLIONCELLO FESTIVAL

In the evocative setting of Castello Pasquini, concerts by artists among the most beloved by the Italian public return. The calendar of events includes Drusilla Foer on July 21, Giorgia on July 22, Panariello VS Masini on August 10, Carl Brave on August 12, Andrea Pucci on August 14, Max Angioni on August 16, and Jonathan Canini on August 17.

  • FESTIVAL PUCCINI DI TORRE DEL LAGO

The Grand Outdoor Theater with the striking backdrop of Lake Massaciuccoli is once again the setting for Puccini operas this year. Four titles will be staged between July and August for magical evenings: La bohème on July 29; Turandot on Aug. 4, 11 and 19; Madama Butterfly on July 28 and Aug. 5, 18 and 24; and Puccini's Il tabarro and Béla Bartók's Duke Bluebeard's Castle on Aug. 12 and 16.

  • FESTA DEL CINEMA DI MARE IN CASTIGLIONE DELLA PESCAIA

The Festa del cinema di Mare - Mauro Mancini Prize/Guido Parigi Prize is back in Castiglione della Pescaia from August 24 to 30. Directing this eighth edition for the third consecutive year is Tuscan director and screenwriter Giovanni Veronesi, who in 2021 took the baton from the creator and founder, Corriere della Sera critic Claudio Carabba, who passed away in November 2020. The event will again this year bring big names from Italian cinema and beyond: confirmed are Valeria Golino, Gabriele Muccino, Piera Detassis and Vinicio Capossela, who will perform a sea-inspired concert on the beach at the conclusion of the festival.   • SUMMER KNIGHTS (PISA)

The festival takes place Sept. 1-4, at the Knights' Square. Sept. 1 Angelo Pintus - Bau, Sept. 2 live with Francesco Renga and Nek, Sept. 3 the unprecedented Tuscan couple Panariello vs Masini / Lo strano Incontro while on Sept. 4 Enrico Brignano - Ma... Diamoci del tu! These are the protagonists of Summer Knights 2023, the container of cultural and entertainment events wanted by the City of Pisa.

  • BARGAJAZZ FESTIVAL (BARGA)

Now in its XXXIV edition in 2023, Barga Jazz festival, the festival/competition organized by the City of Barga and the Polyphonia Association presents an interesting concert program. The date is August 17-26. The BargaJazz international jazz orchestra arrangement and composition competition is dedicated this year to the music of Antônio Carlos Jobim. Exceptional soloist, Brazilian musician Hamilton De Holanda, who will play with the BargaJazz Orchestra arrangements written especially for him by the contestants.

  • BEAT FESTIVAL (EMPOLI)

The festival has two parts, the first lasting 4 days from Thursday, August 24 to Sunday, August 27. The second that lasts 3 days instead, from Friday, August 31 to Saturday, September 2. On Saturday, Aug. 27, on the Main Stage, the French Saints; on Saturday, Sept. 2, the grand finale: after 5 years, Franz Ferdinand return to the Beat stage.

  • VILLA BERTELLI LIVE (FORTE DEI MARMI)

Until the end of August, some of the greatest artists on the Italian scene perform live in front of the general public for the festival that enlivens the summer in Forte dei Marmi. Concerts not to be missed include Fiorella Mannoia and Danilo Rea (Aug. 6), Panariello VS Masini (Aug. 9), Loredana Bertè (Aug. 10), Alex Britti (Aug. 19) and Madame (Aug. 20).

  • SETTEMBRE PRATO È SPETTACOLO (PRATO)

Thursday, Aug. 31, the Festival Prato è spettacolo begins in Piazza Duomo with the highly anticipated Articolo 31, the magical duo composed of rapper J-Ax (Alessandro Aleotti) and producer DJ Jad (Luca Perrini). On Sept. 1 in Piazza Duomo the Prato è spettacolo festival continues with Bugo and Daniele Silvestri, who take turns on stage for an evening of music and fun. On the 2nd it is the turn of the unreleased duo Giorgio Panariello VS Marco Masini, on the 3rd to set Prato on fire are the Editors, the beloved English band, while on the 3rd it is the turn of the storyteller par excellence, Edoardo Bennato. On the 5th the special concert of the Camerata Strumentale Città di Prato, while on the 9th we move to the Amphitheater of Santa Lucia for the free concert of Porto Flamingo.At Villa Guicciardi in Cantagallo on the 12th comes the Alan Sorrenti quartet, while to close the musical review on the 13th comes Umberto Tozzi, who brings all his greatest hits to Villa Guicciardini.

  • DECIBEL OPEN AIR (FIRENZE)

Saturday, September 09 and Sunday, September 10 the 5th edition of Decibel Open Air. 2 days of pure Electronic music and live concerts divided into 12 hours each from 12:00 to 23:59 (noon to midnight ) with over 60 national and international artists. On September 9 Moderat, Boris Brejcha, I Hate Models, Nico Moreno, 999999999, Trym and many others; on Sunday 10 Paul Kalkbrenner, Salmo, Lazza and many others.

  • FIRENZE JAZZ FESTIVAL

From Sept. 06 to Sept. 10 and Sept. 14 to Sept. 18, the Florence Jazz Festival is held, consisting of 41 concerts, bringing , 120 artists including established names and young jazz stars, with 13 nationalities represented. The festival takes place in various locations within the city.
