The concerts and festivals not to be missed in summer 2022 in Florence and Tuscany. 

From Simple Minds to Gianna Nannini, all the names to mark in your diary for a summer in music

It's the summer of music and live shows! Let's discover together all the dates of the greatest national and international artists coming to Florence and Tuscany during these summer months.

JULY

  • The Lucca Summer Festival returns to Lucca, one of the most important events of the Italian music summer, with a line-up that includes the likes of Caparezza on 1 July, Liam Gallagher and Kasabian on 6 July, Twenty One Pilots on 8 July, John Legend on 9 July, Venditti and De Gregori on 10 July, Robert Plant, Alison Krauss and Carmen Consoli on 14 July. On the 15th, Litfiba, 16th July Marracash, 17th July Ben Harper, 20th July Zucchero, 24th July Brunori Sas, 21st July Blanco, 26th July Paolo Conte and 31st July Rkomi and Mara Sattei.

  • At Pistoia Blues 2022 come Manuel Agnelli arrives at Pistoia Blues 2022 on 12 July, Willie Peyote on 13 July, Aries on 14 July, Simple Minds on 15 July and Paolo Nutini on 16 July.

  • From 1 to 26 July, the Festival delle Colline returns to the province of Prato for its 43rd edition: guests include Micah P. Hinson, Ramy Essam, James Maddock, Rita Payés, Mishel Domenssain and Gnu Quartet.

  • Giovanni Allevi brings his music back to Florence, on Thursday 14th July he will perform at the Roman Theatre of Fiesole with his beloved piano and the compositions of his new record project Estasi.

  • Roberto Bolle, LP, Achille Lauro, Vinicio Capossela, Goran Bregovic, Rock The Opera, Steve Hackett and Dado Moroni are the main names on the bill of Musart Festival 2022, the Florentine festival that combines music, art and entertainment in the majestic setting of Piazza della Santissima Annunziata, a few steps from the Duomo.

  • Le stelle del jazz mondiale festeggiano 25 anni di Jazz & Wine in Montalcino: dal 19 al 24 luglio nella città del Brunello, torna il festival che unisce la grande musica jazz ed il vino di qualità. Si parte martedì 19 luglio a ritmo di samba. Mercoledì 20 luglio, il leggendario Ron Carter apre i concerti in Fortezza a Montalcino. Si prosegue, giovedì 21 luglio, con la prima assoluta dell’Orchestra Nazionale Alexanderplatz. A ritmo di New Tango e New Musette, sempre sul palco della Fortezza di Montalcino, venerdì 22 luglio arriva una star mondiale. Riflettori accesi su Richard Galliano che, con la sua fisarmonica, insieme a Adrien Moignard (chitarra) e Diego Imbert (contrabbasso), offrirà al pubblico una serata che si preannuncia imperdibile. Sabato 23 luglio, si continua con John Patitucci Trio Feat. Rogerio Boccato - Yotam Silberstein. La venticinquesima edizione di Jazz & Wine in Montalcino chiude domenica 24 luglio con un concerto straordinario che Mario Biondi e i fratelli Scannapieco.

  • Also as part of Ultravox in Florence are Steve Vai (4/7), M¥Ss Keta (9/7), Cor Veleno Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti (14/7), Snarky Puppy (17/7), Bobo Rondelli & SuRealistas (20/7), Kings Of Convenience (26/7), Fast Animals And Slow Kids (8/7), Kraftwerk (9/7).

  • From Drusilla Foer to the musical Mamma Mia!, from Momix to Panariello. Then again the Gemelli di Guidonia, Vittorio Sgarbi, Neri Marcorè, Matteo Bocelli, Michele Zarrillo, Federico Palmaroli, Maurizio Battista, and many companies and artists for the 43rd La Versiliana Festival from 10 July to the end of August. As many as 43 shows including prose, dance, comedy shows, musicals, and concerts. 29 shows will be staged at the theatre starting with Riunione di Famiglia (Family Reunion), the first show scheduled at the theatre on 15 July (9.30 pm) with Katia Ricciarelli, Pino Quartullo, Nadia Rinaldi and Claudio Insegno. Guaranteed laughter with Federico Palmaroli's satire, in a live show on 5 August. Lightness and elegance also with box-office champion Drusilla Foer, who returns to the Versiliana with her Eleganzissima Estate on 6 August. Laugh-out-loud evenings with the Legnanesi on stage with Canta e Ridi together with Matteo Bensi's Orchestra (8 August), with Giorgio Panariello's great show in La favola mia on 14 August, and with the comedy of Maurizio Battista in Tutti contro tutti (24 August).

  • Elisa, Tommaso Paradiso, Sangiovanni, Ghali, Rkomi, and Canini sing at the 'Follonica Summer Nights', held from 28 July to 20 August.

AUGUST

  • The month of August sees the continuation of the performances and debuts of Giacomo Puccini's operas at the Puccini Festival of Torre del Lago: Madama Butterfly, on the 6th; Tosca on the 13th and 26th; Turandot on the 12th and 20th; La Rondine on the 19th and 27th. Also as part of the Puccini Festival on the 25th, at the Auditorium Enrico Caruso, Bruno Maderna's opera Satyricon with the Ensemble Auditorium Parco della musica di Roma makes its debut on a single date.

  • From 28 July to 21 August in Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, San Romano in Garfagnana, and Vagli Sotto (Lucca), Mont'Alfonso returns under the stars. It starts with Ludovico Einaudi who inaugurates (28/7) at the Oasi di Campocatino in Vagli Sotto, then Frida Bollani (30/7) at the Fortezza delle Verrucole - San Romano in Garfagnana. This is followed by the farmer-songwriter Maurizio Carucci (2/8) at the Fortezza delle Verrucole - San Romano in Garfagnana, the Aka7even (5/8) at the Fortezza di Mont'Alfonso - Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, Vinicio Capossela (8/8) at the Fortezza di Mont'Alfonso - Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, Danilo Rea in Concert at Dawn (15/8) at 4.45 am at the Fortezza di Mont'Alfonso - Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, Umberto Tozzi (18/8) at the Fortezza di Mont'Alfonso - Castelnuovo di Garfagnana.

  • Gianna Nannini in concert on 26th at the Terrazza Mascagni in Livorno, and Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana on 30th and 31st.

SEPTEMBER

  • The season of great concerts does not stop even in September! On September 12th Paul Weller arrives at Tuscany Hall.

  • On September 21 and 22 two big dates for Mika in Florence: the one on 21 at Teatro Verdi and the one on 22 at Mandela Forum.

  • In September, Florence turns into the temple of electronic music with Decibel Open Air. On 10 and 11 September, world-class artists such as: Paul Kalkbrenner, Caribou and Cosmo.

  • Also back is the Jova Beach Party! with two dates in Viareggio on 2 and 3 September at the Muraglione in Darsena.

  • Elisa, Achille Lauro, Francesco Gabbani and Aries in Pisa for the Summer Knights 2022 from 8 to 17 September in Piazza dei Cavalieri.

  • At the Gran Teatro all'Aperto in Torre del Lago, Lucca, from 8 to 10, another great musical: Notre Dame de Paris. On the 17th, Daniele Gatti conducts the Orchestra and Chorus of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino at the Gran Teatro all'Aperto Giacomo Puccini.
