The best international restaurants in Florence

Where to sample the best of Japanese, Chinese, Indian and Jewish cuisine in the city

From the aesthetic and philosophical rigour of Japanese cuisine, to the ancient soul of Chinese cuisine, from the intimate suggestions of Kosher cuisine, to the rich Russian land, reaching the intoxicating perfume of India, today we take you on a discovery of restaurants where you can discover flavours from the world in Florence.

Dosirak
Via San Zanobi 30r, Firenze
Tel. 055 2698682

Dosirak, a new restaurant dedicated to Korean street food, has opened in the San Lorenzo neighborhood. The menu features some of the great classics of Seoul cuisine, from gimbap to tteokbokki, as well as fried chicken, dumplings, corn dogs, and a wide selection of noodles. It’s a casual and affordable spot, designed to introduce Florentines to the flavors of South Korea, blending tradition with contemporary pop culture.

Ciblèo
Via del Verrocchio, 2r
ph. +39 055 2341100

An L instead of the usual R. Thus was born the first Korean-Japanese-Tuscan restaurant conceived by a chef who has been a symbol in the city, Fabio Picchi. Ciblèo - Tortelli e Ravioli could only be the epilogue of chef Picchi's love affair with a small Kyoto restaurant, born in 1988. Everything that was given to him in 5 years of work in Japan began at that moment and the whole of the East passionately entered his being a chef: Korea with its surprising foods and China with its ancient knowledge. Awaiting you are 16 seats, 8 of which are at the counter. In the kitchen, those who took over Fabio's reins and pass on his cooking knowledge.

Il Gusto di Xinge
Viale Belfiore, 2
ph. +39 320 9681806

In Florence, Il Gusto di Xinge has already become a true landmark: the restaurant where the young and sophisticated chef Xin Ge Liu has won over the city’s heart with cuisine that blends aesthetics, creativity, and identity. Here, the dishes are true works of art designed to be savored with both the eyes and the palate: vibrantly colored purple crystal ravioli, sparkling bao buns, and surprising cocktails that transform every dinner into an unforgettable experience. Today, this gastronomic universe expands with Xinge GOGO Bistro, the chef’s new project that marks the beginning of a new chapter for contemporary Chinese cuisine in Florence. Xinge GOGO Bistro was conceived as an experiential space where gastronomy, fashion, and art coexist in perfect harmony. The menu celebrates Chinese tradition through a “low-burden” approach that prioritizes the purity of ingredients, lightness, and digestibility without sacrificing flavor. Among the standout dishes is the Roast Duck Rice, a tribute to culinary classicism, in which the duck retains all its intensity while being prepared with refined technique and careful control of fat content.

ph. +39 055 0944285

Bentoro offers a journey into the purest and most refined Japanese cuisine, characterized by delicate flavors and an essential, minimalist aesthetic. The name Bentoro carries three symbolic meanings: “Bento,” the traditional Japanese meal carefully prepared by mothers for school or work; “Toro,” referring to the prized Wagyu beef; and “Otoro,” the most precious cut of tuna in Japanese culinary tradition. With this philosophy, every dish on the menu delivers an authentic Japanese experience crafted with the highest quality ingredients.

Dim Sum Restaurant
Via dei Neri, 37r

As the name already suggests, the Dim Sum Restaurant's menu is dominated by these little morsels that enchant the heart: dumplings, proposed in their most traditional guise or revisited to surprise diners with unusual combinations. But there is no shortage of other tasty dishes, such as noodles freshly prepared from a handful of sourdough, then cooked in broth or stir-fried.

Hallasan
Via Guelfa, 98r
ph. +39 055 0730077

Hallasan brings Korean meat excellence to a refined and unique setting. The brainchild of entrepreneur Xu Hilton, the restaurant serves fine cuts of meat (from fillet to dry-aged ribs, either au naturel or marinated in Korean soy sauce) cooked on charcoal braziers set in tables. So strong is the emphasis on meat that at Hallasan's a plate of it is practically a must for everyone at the table: along with it come four condiments - Maldon salt flakes, Japanese ginger, caramelised onion and wasabi (also freshly grated), in ascending order of intensity - as well as a wide range of side dishes. The experience is rounded off by other traditional Korean dishes, such as Kimchi, Seoul's national dish; Bibimbab, on a white rice base are first vegetables and then pork, all topped with egg yolk and hot sauce. Mixing it all together, the result is a balanced and tasty amalgam. Or the Goghi Kimchi Zighe, a spicy soup with tofu, vegetables and pork. Hallasan does not follow the classic meal plan, but offers a taste trail that enhances first the meat and then the more intense flavours of Asian cuisine.

Ristorante India
Viale Gramsci, 43/a

Moving away from the city centre to indulge in a step of flavour in the beautiful Fiesole, it is here that India, the oldest Indian restaurant in Florence, is located. The first to offer ethnic Indian cuisine since 1994 thanks to the shrewd intuition of Edoardo Castorina, the owner, together with the Drogba family. Protagonist is the taste of India in all its forms, on the menu chicken, lamb, pork cooked with the traditional Tandoori oven method together with the unique scents of spices, spicy and not.

Ruth's
Via Luigi Carlo Farini, 2/a
ph. +39 055 2480888

Only kosher food cooked in the two separate kitchens so that the dishes cannot 'contaminate' each other. A vegetarian hangout where one eats good vegetable couscous with harissa sauce, Israeli-style hummus, cheese borekas, Judean-style caponata and really good falafel. The setting is a cosy place, a crossroads for travellers, with drawings and cartoons hanging on the walls. A touch of Jewish culture to be enjoyed at the table.
