An autumn of major retrospectives dedicated to the great geniuses of all times
Worldwide attention for the new Palazzo Strozzi exhibition: Marina Abramovic - The Cleaner, on view until next 20 January. A reflection on 50 years of art, the first major retrospective dedicated to the artist, who has chosen Italy as her second homeland.
At the Museo Novecento, Solo - Piero Manzoni: the retrospectives dedicated to the great masters of the 20th century continue. Again at the Museo Novecento, for the section The Architect’s Drawing Board, the Florentine museum hosts the architect Benedetta Tagliabue (until 13 December). Palazzo Davanzati offers its Homage to Elia Volpi the Painter until 30 October. This autumn, at the Uffizi Galleries, do not miss the new installation of the Michelangelo and Raphael Rooms, as well as of the Leonardo Room: Also at the Uffizi, Grand Tourismo by Giacomo Zaganelli, until mid-October. Giotto’s Madonna di San Giorgio alla Costa will be exhibited until next December at Florence’s Opera del Duomo Museum. The great Florentine museum, one of the most important museums in the world, hosts the Codex Leicester - which today belongs to Bill Gates - and other Leonardo Codexes in the new Malbecchiana Hall dedicated to temporary exhibitions, from 29 September to January. The exhibition entitled Leonardo da Vinci’s Codex Leicester. Water as a Microscope of Nature, curated by Paolo Galluzzi, is a preview, of absolute importance, of the events celebrating Leonardo that will take place throughout the world in 2019 on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the death of one of the most iconic figures of the history of mankind. There is time until December to visit the new installation of the Galleria del Costume in Palazzo Pitti Driving cars.
