The most beautiful open-air cinemas in Florence for the summer

Films under the stars are back in some of the city's most beautiful locations: let's find out where

The summer evenings come back to light with the cinema under the stars, a tradition that keeps us company every year allowing us to enjoy a good movie in the open air surrounded by the summer breeze. But what are the summer Arenas not to be missed?

Cinema Uffizi

Apriti Cinema 2021 - Piazzale degli Uffizi
Back from June 28 to August 8 Apriti Cinema, the screen in the Piazzale degli Uffizi with its programming of the best of festivals and reviews. Every evening, in one of the most beautiful and historic locations in Florence, there will be a film screening in original language with free admission. The program consists of films proposed by the Florentine festivals with an international vocation, including the Festival dei Popoli, the Screen of Art, the River to River Florence Indian Film Festival, the Florence Queer Festival, the Middle East Now. Also scheduled live readings and performances dedicated to Dante 700.

Cloister of the Novecento Museum
On Tuesday, June 22, Cinema nel Chiostro was inaugurated, the new summer arena inside the loggia of the Museo Novecento that will animate the Florentine Summer, with art films, previews and meetings until September 5, in the spectacular setting of the ancient Spedale delle Leopoldine in Piazza Santa Maria Novella, the museum's headquarters. Since July, the program is enriched with meetings and in-depth analysis with film critics and guests who will accompany the film screenings.

Cinema Museo Novecento

Off Cinema at the Fortezza da Basso
In the open-air summer space of the Swan Lake at the Fortezza da Basso, the appointment with Off Cinema is renewed, a festival where every Monday since June 7 there are documentaries and art films with free admission.

Manifattura Tabacchi 
From June 18 to August 31 the Manifattura Tabacchi will be hosting cinema. There will be 70 events including culture, talks, music and cinema organized by the Stensen Foundation, together with many other Florentine organizations and associations. The talks and pre-evening meetings are free, while admission to the films under the stars is charged.

Cinema di Castello Summer Arena
The summer arena Cinema di Castello has been active since June 12 in the courtyard of the Arci club. The programming focuses on the best titles of the season, but especially on those seen less frequently, the pearls to be recovered, the films not to be missed. Reservations are always required online or by phone at 3393690575 after 19:00.

Moonlight Cinema
The 2021 program of the Chiaridiluna cinema in Florence, the large open-air screen located in via Monte Oliveto, in the area between piazza Pier Vettori, San Frediano and piazza Tasso, starts with the summer season. The outdoor cinema program kicks off on Saturday, June 26, 2021 with Maledetta Primavera (Cursed Spring) and continues in July, August and early September with new releases and the best titles of the past season. Great news the cult films at 5 euros that will be offered throughout the season.

Cinema Chiardiluna

Cinema Outer Night - Flog
The big screen of the summer arena of Poggetto will be back on with films under the stars from Friday, June 25, 2021. From Nomadland to Cruella, Summer '85 to Minari, both the best and must-see releases from last season and new releases are on the schedule. There is a discount for those with a Firenze al cinema card.
