Where to find the best Easter eggs in Florence
Here are all the Florentine chocolatiers you should not miss
What could be better than a tasty and fine chocolate egg to celebrate the arrival of Easter? Fortunately Florence offers many realities attentive to the quality of products and their processing. Here is a selection of the best chocolate shops in the area, where you can buy your Easter gift for friends, relatives ... or simply for yourself!
Four Seasons Hotel Firenze
Borgo Pinti, 99
This year the Four Seasons Hotel Firenze will surprise even its most loyal guests with three delicious types of Easter Eggs, inside which, if necessary, you can insert your own surprise. So it's up to you to choose between a white chocolate version glazed with praline pistachios, a milk chocolate version with praline hazelnuts and a dark chocolate version. The eggs, wonderfully decorated by the pastry team with refined chocolate ornaments, can be purchased exclusively at the hotel at a cost of 39 euros.
Via Roma, 1/R
Caffè Gilli is synonymous with quality since 1733. Do not miss the eggs, including the delicious Noccioloso milk chocolate, entirely covered with IGP Piedmont hazelnuts, and the Extra Dark in extra dark chocolate, embellished with cocoa beans and gold leaf. How could we not mention, then, the wonderful handmade chocolate creations? Available in various sizes. Unmissable in this period is the handmade Colomba: a real jewel, crumbly on the outside and soft on the inside, whose slow leavening and the use of sourdough guarantee an unmistakable quality. Delivery is guaranteed 7 days out of 7 and, on the Florentine territory, is carried out in collaboration with So.co.ta and Co.ta.fi, the cab companies operating in the city. A choice made both to preserve the quality of the products (that often with normal couriers suffer some damage) and to "create a system" and give a concrete help to a category in difficulty like that of the taxi drivers.
Via del Ponte di Mezzo, 20
Two brothers, Claudio and Claudia Pistocchi, who have been working together in their Florentine workshop for almost 30 years. This year there are many eggs produced with innovative fantasies: from the elegant striped egg and the leaf-egg to more complex creations such as the half-egg with pistachio and bunny. Not to be missed are the eggs decorated with almonds and other types of dried fruit. Notwithstanding the new molds used for the realization of Easter eggs, the recipe remains tied to tradition. Moreover, not to be missed are Sicilian pistachios covered with white chocolate, sweet orange and salt. Unmissable is the white chocolate cake with apricot and cognac, winner of a World Gold in 2018. In the Florentine territory it is possible to make (at no additional cost) the delivery service.
Ballerini Chocolate Shop
Borgo Ognissanti 132/r
For lovers of fondant not to be missed is the Cioccolateria Ballerini, which uses 75% high quality fondant for its eggs. Obviously, for the greedy ones, there are eggs made with milk or white chocolate. The creativity of this chocolate shop is truly great: from ladybug-eggs to penguin-eggs. However, the ones decorated with delicious mixes of dried fruit are still unmissable...beautiful to see and delicious to eat! To be tasted during this period is the limoncello dove. Unmissable throughout the year the Pan di Lino, or a leavened dough, wet with vinsanto and raisins. Free delivery throughout Florence.

If you love to experiment, the Chocolate Boutique is for you. For Easter there are caramel eggs from Brittany and pistachio eggs (customizable with written or with surprises to be inserted inside). New for this year are the eggs wrapped with lilac tablecloths, reusable. In addition, in collaboration with Val Gardena, delicious wooden chickens have been made to be decorated with chocolate eggs. There are also bells and doves in chocolate. Do not miss the box of tasty pralines made for the 700 years of Dante. The delivery service is active and free in the Florentine area, while in the rest of Italy it is always 8euro.
Via Vacchereccia 4/r
The strength of Rivoire lies in the fact that it is the producer of the chocolate it sells. Unfortunately, due to renovations, there will be no Easter products. It remains, however, active the delivery service, consulting their online shop. Product of excellence of this brand is definitely the exclusive recipe of Water Chocolate. It is a solid cream with a unique taste and texture, accompanied by an elegant silver spoon. Not to be missed their hazelnut and pistachio spreads.
Via Calzaiuoli, 65/R
Venchi chocolate is now known throughout the world for its quality and its unforgettable flavor. For this Easter has been designed a menu with 3 eggs (with dark, milk and white chocolate) and there are also eggs Nibs (with roasted cocoa beans). Caffè Rainer is the only Austrian pastry shop opened in 2011 in the heart of Florence. Although there is no Easter news for this year, the pastry shop remains active for take-out. Here the love for chocolate is combined with experimentation and creativity. The most loved product is certainly the Sacher Torte that is also revisited in praline form. Not to be missed are the mignons with dried fruit and dark chocolate, handcrafted with selected products. Do not miss the sour cherries and the orange peels covered with chocolate.
