Back A tavola sulla spiaggia

At La Capannina di Franceschi hosts the 29th edition of Gianni Mercatali's challenge for the best beach dishes.

A tavola sulla spiaggia is a food and wine show created by Gianni Mercatali that has been going on for 29 years.

For the second year running, the challenge to the last ladle on the "noble sands" of Forte dei Marmi took place behind closed doors for security reasons at the Capannina di Forte dei Marmi, but despite this there was no lack of celebration and fun. "Once again this year," said Gherardo Guidi, "the Capannina welcomed the participants and the jury with great chefs with pleasure and enthusiasm in an atmosphere that matches the philosophy of the event".

The "golden colander", the symbol of the victory of this original and mouth-watering show that crowns the Piatto Forte 2021 dedicated to Forte dei Marmi, was won by Ida Semeraro and Francesca Macolino who presented a prawn parmigiana paired with an Umbrian wine Cuvée Secrète by Arnaldo Caprai. They were also awarded a fine gold leaf work by Johnny Charlton, now an acclaimed painter who has chosen Tuscany for his work as an artist, the UNAHotel Award and the FIPE - Confcommercio Toscana Award.

The Press Jury awarded its single Parmigiano Reggiano Prize to Maria Carla Pinotti Risi with her torta pasqualina paired with Cecchi's La Mora Rosato.

For the first time this year, the Organising Committee established an award for elegance in the presentation of the dish named after Rodo, the Italian fashion label that is the symbol of elegant craftsmanship in the world. The Rodo Prize was awarded to Lisa Agostini and Andrea Baggiani, who presented, in an original and attractive setting, their proposal for farmhouse ice cream: tomato sorbet and robiola ice cream served in a salted wafer combined with Tapioco wine from the La Tognazza winery.

Once again this year the jury included great chefs who unanimously appreciated the serious commitment of the competitors. Among the loyal participants were Gianfranco Vissani, president of the jury, together with the starred chefs from Versilia and two new entries, both from Maremma, each with a Michelin star: Alessandro Rossi chef at Gabbiano 3.0 and Bruno De Moura Cossio, executive chef at L'Andana Resort.

The appointment with taste is renewed for next year, same beach, same sea, in view of the celebrations for the 30th anniversary of the event.
