Florence and Tuscany are preparing for a September full of events. Let's discover together those not to be missed for a less bitter return to the city, accompanied by art, music and entertainment.
Factory Europe 2021
From 2 September to 17 October, dance and theatre will once again be the protagonists of the most beautiful places in Florence. The XXVIIth edition of the Festival Fabbrica Europa 2021 will be inaugurated by DéRIVES of the French ILOTOPIE, a poetic and visionary show that runs along the Arno river, from Ponte alle Grazie to Ponte Vecchio, up to Ponte Santa Trinita. Florence Jazz Festival
From 8 to 12 September, the fifth edition of the Firenze Jazz Festival returns to Florence. Ranked in the top 10 jazz festivals by jazz magazines, this year it involves more than 100 artists. The festival involves various locations in the city including historic villas, concert halls and Renaissance cloisters, holiday farms, clubs and pubs, addressing both a wider audience.
Ecology as a new form of relationship through the experimentation of contemporary languages and the connection between different worlds is the fil rouge of the initiatives scheduled in September at Manifattura Tabacchi, a month of collection and restitution of the reflections on the relationship between man, city and nature that have guided the first year of NAM - Not A Museum. From 16 to 18 September SUPERBLAST, the final exhibition of site-specific works by Edoardo Aruta, Antonio Obregon Bermudez, Federica Di Pietrantonio, IPER-collettivo, Oliviero Fiorenzi, Violette Maillard, opens to the public at the end of a residency process in the creative community of Manifattura Tabacchi. From 15 to 21 September, GOD IS GREEN returns, the fourth edition of the festival on sustainability and the future. While on Sunday 19 September the final symposium of BOTANICA TEMPORANEA, L'arte dei giardini invisibili, the exhibition-workshop curated by Antonio Perazzi and based on the philosophy of low-maintenance gardens that emerge spontaneously in the urban environment, capable of improving the quality of life and redeveloping the landscape.
Florence Cocktail Week
From 20 to 26 September Florence is preparing for the Florence Cocktail Week 2021, preceded by the third edition of Tuscany Cocktail Week, from 13 to 19 September. This year's novelties at the kermesse headed by Paola Mencarelli also include the first edition of Venezia Cocktail Week from 13 to 19 December 2021.
The Pitti Fragranze exhibition dedicated to perfumes, essences and accessories (for the person and the home) will be back at the Stazione Leopolda from 17 to 19 September 2021. The event is intended for operators in the sector, and a Green Pass is required to enter.
Run for Life
Once again this year there will be no traditional city run along pre-established routes, but individual sports will be promoted, to be carried out in the open air in the company of friends and family, with Corri La Vita testimonials who will be connected throughout the day with live TV and social broadcasts. The event will take place on Sunday 26 September and for the first time will involve the whole region!
Ultravox Concerts Florence
The series of concerts continues in the new space of Ultravox, at the Anfiteatro delle Cascine in Florence, where artists, bands and music have been performing all summer long. This September there will be other important names on the Italian music scene, from the more established to the emerging ones. Marlene Kuntz is coming on 28 August, Gio Evan on 30, Carl Brave on 4 September, Noemi on 7, La Rappresentate di Lista on 8, Levante on 10, Francesca Michielin on 15 and Piero Pelù on 16.
On August 28, 2021 at 8 p.m. and with three subsequent replicas scheduled on August 30 and September 1 and 3, also at 8 p.m., the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino reopens the season after the summer break with Così fan tutte, Mozart's masterpiece on stage under the direction of Ádám Fischer. It continues on September 17 with replicas on 22, 24, 28 and 2 and 5 October of Zubin Mehta directing Verdi's La traviata. And again on 21 September with performances on 23, 30 and 3 October on the stage Donizetti's Linda di Chamounix.
From Friday 27 August to Sunday 12 September the fifth edition of FloReMus. Rinascimento Musicale with a rich programme of evening concerts, concerts à boire, conversations and a workshop. FloReMus is the first festival entirely dedicated to the music of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, located in the city that has most influenced the Renaissance culture in its various facets, artistic-visual, literary, musical, philosophical, scientific and political.
September Prato is Show (Prato)
After the pause of 2020, the sixth edition of the Festival Settembre Prato è Spettacolo returns, taking place from 27 August to 12 September in various locations around the city. Enrico Brignano inaugurates it in Piazza Duomo on 27 August. After him a lot of music with Max Gazzè on 28th August, Rkomi on 29th and Samuele Bersano on 31st. September opens with PFM on 1st September, while on 2nd September Willie Peyote arrives and on 3rd Colapesce and DiMartino. On 4 September it is the turn of Antonello Venditti and on the 6th of Giorgio Panariello. Christian De Sica will be on stage at Villa Guicciardini on 11 September, while Lodo Guenzi will close the show at the Anfiteatro di Santa Lucia on 12 September.
The exhibition Alberi in Versi (Trees in Verse) by Giuseppe Penone at the Uffizi is still open until 30 October.
Last days to visit the exhibition American Art at Palazzo Strozzi, which will then be replaced from 2 October to 30 January by a large exhibition dedicated to Jeff Koons.
While in Pietrasanta the exhibition The Blue Banana by Giuseppe Veneziano is open until 14 September.
