Art Thou - book Polimoda

Art Thou, the new book by Polimoda

A collection of the best works by students of fashion design, styling and art direction curated by Massimiliano Giornetti together with the faculty of the institute

How do the creatives of the new generation imagine the world to come? Art Thou tells us, the new publication by Polimoda edited by Massimiliano Giornetti and the school's faculty which, for the first time in 35 years, brings together the best works of the students and graduates of the courses in fashion design, fashion styling and art direction for the academic year 2020/2021.

Ar thou - Book Polimoda

It is an emotional and creative reawakening in which young people are the real protagonists, the "blooming flowers", as Sara Sozzani Maino writes in the preface to Art Thou. A rebirth here represented by the myth of Persephone, which gives the title to one of the ten chapters into which the book is structured. Chapters that, playing on contrasts, reflect topics related to current events (diversity, inclusiveness, identity, competitiveness of the fashion world), with references to mythology, technology, social networks, reflecting the complexity and contradictions of a world in which the new generations often find no space.

Ar thou - Book Polimoda

Each chapter-container hosts images, poetic fragments, drawings, photographs, prints, fashion creations, moodboards that illustrate the new visions of styling, art direction and fashion design. Fashion, the one created and then worn, but also the one photographed, illustrated and proposed by the pages of magazines or on the catwalk, is not only the way in which we present ourselves to the world but also an encouragement to always be ourselves, one of the cornerstones of Polimoda.

Ar thou - Book Polimoda

Art Thou illustrates the countless manifestations of individual talent, instinctive and pure, that embrace and inspire the entire fashion community: a precious contribution to the community, an occasion for reflection and research on new ideas, on which fashion will never stop feeding. At the center is always self-expression, "the greatest of virtues", writes Massimiliano Giornetti in the preface to the book. Against all homologation. "Art thou?", or "Are you you?", is an invitation to get to know oneself and express one's inner world without fear and in complete freedom. A book to be inspired by in order to create, to know, to understand the future of fashion and emerging trends.
