Lucca Film Festival 2022
From September 23 to October 2, international cinema returns to Tuscany
Giuseppe Tornatore - Nuovo cinema Paradiso, Oscar winner, The Legend of the Pianist on the Ocean, 6 David di Donatello, Baaria... - Paolo and Lina Taviani - he director from 7 David di Donatello, Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement in Venice, and Palme d'Or in Cannes, she costume designer award-winning for example for Nanni Moretti's Habemus Papam - director, screenwriter, painter and writer Peter Greenaway, director Gaspar Noé - who brought Irréversible with Vincent Cassel and Monica Bellucci - Paolo Virzì - at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival with Siccità - and Luca Miniero.
These are just some of the Italian and international guests attending the new edition of the Lucca Film Festival, this year from September 23 to October 2.
Virzì, Tornatore will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as Gaspar Noé, who will be the protagonist of a retrospective and a master class (Sept. 24), Peter Greenaway the Dante Alighieri Cinema Award 2022 and will be in Lucca with his wife Saskia Boddeke director of the documentary The Peter Greenaway alphabet, which will be screened for the occasion along with The Mysteries of Compton House Garden, restored and screened a at the recent Venice Film Festival (on Oct. 2).
Twelve films in competition have been selected, from 13 producing nations, for 7 first works. Films presented 'Out of Competition' include the Italian premiere of Soy Cubana, directed four-handedly by Jeremy Ungar and Ivaylo Getov, and for Italy the comedy Tutti a bordo, directed by Luca Miniero. There will also be the short film competition, including a national premiere of When the rain sets in by British director James Hughes, and a rich calendar of exhibitions, such as the one by Pisan artist Marcello Scarselli, entitled Good Morning Taviani, dedicated to the cinema of the Taviani Brothers, music and meetings.
