Ferragosto in Tuscany
Discover with us the highlights of the day of Santa Maria
Ferragosto has always been synonymous with the sea, parties and great binges on the beach, but those who prefer something different will not be disappointed. Tuscany offers a bit 'everywhere events not to be missed to spend the weekend more crazy of the summer. Here are our ideas.
Our trip to Tuscany starts in Versilia, a destination of absolute fun. On the coast, there is no shortage of unmissable places to have an aperitif, and restaurants with sea views where you can taste the delicacies of the coast. For those who prefer a Ferragosto far from the chaos, there is always Pietrasanta with its unmissable places and the new Giuseppe Veneziano exhibition in Piazza del Duomo.
There is no shortage of things to do on one of the hottest weekends of the summer in the Maremma. You can opt for a lunch by the sea, or a tour of the area's most beautiful villages where you will also find several small restaurants to try and sample the local specialities.
In the Valtiberina, Ferragosto combines theatre and flavours thanks to Tovaglia a Quadri, the event that returns every year in mid-August in the delightful village of Anghiari and this year for the first time goes outside the walls and arrives at Sorci Castle. The formula will always be the same: tablecloths laid with traditional local ingredients from the Apennines, prepared by the experienced chefs of Sorci Castle and the historic La Nena Restaurant in Anghiari.
There are also many festivals throughout Tuscany where you can enjoy typical products without giving up the cooler air, and the folkloristic events that have been confirmed (despite the fact that the Palio di Siena is cancelled this year too).
Finally, even for those who stay in Florence, there are many swimming pools where you can go for a regenerating dip just a few minutes from the city, and many places where you can enjoy a nice aperitif to toast the sunset.
Happy Ferragosto to all of you!
