Eating by the sea in Maremma
Seaside restaurants you absolutely must try on the coast of Maremma
Summer is just around the corner and the Maremma offers a myriad of places and suggestions to make it one of the top tourist destinations for the coming months.
For lovers of the seascapes this land has to offer, here are the best restaurants directly on the sea, where you can treat yourself to lunch or dinner at sunset, lulled by the footsteps of the sea, perhaps accompanied by the Maremma's finest wines.
Via Costiera Antica Snc – Fiumara, Marina di Grosseto
ph. +39 0564 34040
Let's head south: in Marina di Grosseto there is the Fiumara Beach, where the restaurant with its terrace overlooking the sea offers the catch of the day. A restaurant with a unique and unmistakable style, the Fiumare offers fish dishes for lunch and dinner and a fabulous aperitif.
La Dogana Capalbio
Via Graticciaia - Chiarone Scalo, Grosseto
ph. +39 0564 890344
La Dogana Capalbio enjoys a strategic position, just a stone's throw from the beach. Winebar and restaurant, from sunset it becomes a reference point for aperitifs and then for dinner by the sea. The cuisine offers traditional dishes: try the pici with red prawns and vegetables and the fried fish from the Dogana.
Vistamare Beach Restaurant
Strada Provinciale delle Rocchette, 98 - Castiglione della Pescaia
ph. +39 376 1156063
An informal restaurant that conveys its wild soul and welcomes guests by immersing them in the authenticity of the place. It is the encounter between the sea and the land, between fish dishes and the scents of the Mediterranean maquis. Thanks to its panoramic terrace, Vistamare welcomes its guests at the edge of the beach at lunch with a quick and informal proposal. In the evening it becomes a magical and intimate place, the soft lights and breathtaking view are the ideal setting for your aperitif and curated and elegant dinner by the sea.
Porto Turistico, 11 - Marina di Grosseto
ph. +39 0564 337812
The Gabbiano 3.0 restaurant, one Michelin star, in the centre of the Marina di Grosseto tourist port, has a philosophy of tailor-made hospitality. The young Tuscan Alessandro Rossi leads the kitchen. His proposal is linked to the tradition of the territory but completed by contaminations and explorations rich in creativity. High quality raw materials and careful cooking are the basis of his dishes, both sea and land, which express personality. An experience not to be forgotten.
Viale Guglielmo Marconi, 22 - San Vincenzo
ph. +39 345 0679498 - +39 335 8001695
Here we are in San Vincenzo: although it has lost its "king" Fulvio Pierangelini, it still offers plenty of inspiration. Partly because Pierangelini's son, Fulvietto, continues the tradition and does so in the Il Bucaniere restaurant, a palafitta on the beach, designed by Massimiliano Fuksas.
La perla del mare
Via della Meloria, 9 - San Vincenzo
ph. +39 0565 702113
The restaurant is located in a charming modern hut of wood and steel, scenically overlooking the beach of San Vincenzo. On the horizon, the profile of the islands of Capraia, Corsica and Elba stand out. The dishes are prepared by chef Deborah Corsi: a talented woman who seems to paint her own dishes. Deborah works mainly with local products, excellent fish and zero-kilometre vegetables.
Ristorante La Baracchina
Lungomare Alberto Sordi - Castiglioncello (LI)
ph. +39 0586 752003
A place of sea and unique suggestions accompanied by a seafood cuisine rich in flavour and freshness. Directly on the sand, a stone's throw from the shore, a cult place where you can enjoy wonderful spaghetti with clams, amazing seafood tartare and dulcis in fundo: the fried fish.
Via Dei Cavalleggeri Nord, 27 - Marina Di Bibbona
ph. +39 0586 600016
One Michelin star. We are on the beach at Marina di Bibbona, on the edge of the pine forest with Marina di Cecina. There used to be a little bar on stilts, next to the La Pineta bathing establishment, where, more than half a century ago, a family thought of preparing some fish dishes for a clientele that had begun to frequent those beaches. The restaurant is still called La Pineta, with a beautiful room overlooking the sea, naval furnishings and dark parquet flooring. In the kitchen and in the dining room are the direct heirs of the great Luciano Zazzeri: his sons Daniele, a starred chef in the kitchen, and Andrea, in the dining room.
